Hello
I am Holly Tippetts, an artist currently located in small town Missouri. I say currently located because I have moved over 20 times from the West Coast to the East Coast and back again. I was born with a desire to travel the world and I know that is a part of my artistic expression.
Did I always want to be an artist? Absolutely! In elementary school I had the choice to play on the playground with friends, or go to the pottery shack and learn to throw clay. I chose clay whenever possible. Drawing, painting and designing anything was my happy place growing up.
I graduated from SUU with a BA in fine arts in 1989. The next 26 years would be primarily focused on raising amazing kids! I did commission work wherever my family moved to, including commissions in Germany where my husband had a military assignment. So, I guess that makes me an international artist! Anyway, it’s a new day for me as my family is all grown up. I am so excited to focus on making beautiful and meaningful art.
Technique and inspiration
I am very inspired my nature when we travel, especially trees and flowers. I am obsessed with texture and intense color. I have been a watercolorist since the age of 16 but have also fallen in love with rich highly textured acrylic work in the past decade. I love to paint with a credit card or knife to stay loose and unexpected. I love these same qualities in my watercolors. The unexpected parts are amazing and fun! So, I really can’t choose a medium at this point in my journey! I hope that is okay. LOL I am excited to see what I can create and share.
I currently have art in the Northland Artists Gallery, in Weston, Missouri and am building a beautiful studio to create in, coming soon.
Art just makes life better!
